Gilt Frame Restoration - Five Day Intensive

Learn how to restore damaged and deteriorated gilding on picture frames or furniture in this five day intensive course.  The tutor is Hugi Hicyilmaz, a highly experienced gilding conservator.

Topics covered will include cleaning, removing later applications of powders and paints, making silicon moulds and replacing missing elements, reapplying gesso, bole, gilt cream and gold leaf, and toning.

If you can, you should bring a gilded object to restore, but we can supply materials for you to practice on. All materials, including a book of loose gold leaf, are included in the course fee.

This session runs for five continuous days, Monday to Friday, from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day with a break for lunch.
